Youth softball programs play an essential role in the physical, social, and emotional development of children. SGSA’s code of conduct encourages parents, coaches, and players to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. It sets clear expectations for behavior, emphasizing respect, fair play, and positive interactions.
Adults involved in youth softball should lead by example. Coaches, parents, and officials should also demonstrate fairness, respect, and self-control. When parents and coaches adhere to a code of conduct, they become positive role models for young athletes.
SGSA’s code of conduct ensures the safety and well-being of everyone involved. It is intended to prohibit behaviors that could endanger the health or safety of fellow coaches, players, officials, or game attendees.
SGSA’s code of conduct helps protect children from physical, emotional, or social abuse that adults or others might perpetrate. All coaches and parents are required to read and sign a code of conduct pledge, emphasizing their commitment to a safe and respectful environment.
SGSA’s code of conduct pledge also serves as a reminder for parents and players about how they should behave during games. It outlines sportsmanship guidelines, overall rules, and accepted behavior, fostering a positive atmosphere. Coaches are responsible for the parents and team spectators for being positive to the opposing team.
SGSA is serious about providing a safe and fun environment for all of our players, coaches, umpires, and fans. Failure to adhere to the SGSA parent and/or coaches code of conduct or standards set forth by the rules of youth softball, host organizations and/or public safety officials will result in disciplinary actions up to and including suspension of future opportunities to participate in SGSA sanctioned activities. Additionally, SGSA may also pursue any and all legal remedies to ensure compliance with the code of conduct.
